Ask Jovius 09/09/09

Dear Jovius,

What is the cause of long term depression and how can it be healed?

Also, is it better to remove oneself from negative people and situations even if one has attracted on some level these experiences?

Judy (Garner, NC, USA)

Long term depression is grown from seed by focusing on lack.  It is healed by first choosing to move past it.  By intending that this is something you no longer want.  Then shifting, ever so slightly, to allowing something / anything more joyful into your life.  Then nurturing, welcoming and encouraging more positive thoughts into your life.

Yes, we would say avoiding people who are negative in your experience could be a great way to move past negative experiences for you.  But, we would like to add that at some time, when you feel more emotionally equipped, you may want to allow these people (even one at time), back in to understand what you need to learn from interacting with them.  These people have something to offer for you have attracted them.  It is, however, easier when not in a positive place for you to move away and step back until you are feeling more empowered.  Your own empowerment and vibrational shift is what is most important.  Moving up the emotional scale is very powerful as depression is far from joyful.  But, every emotion is important to feel and recognize and learn from.  You get that you do not want depression and you get that some people are not giving you what you really want to experience.  You are very wise, trust those feelings and move away.  You know your heart already sees the way..
