Dear Mark and Karla,

Thank you so much for your guidance. Kindly help me understand, I am of
African descent and we communicate (asking for help or guidance) with the
departed through rituals, i.e. slaughtering of a cow or goat and brewing
alcoholic beverages. Why is it so, can't we just have an open relationship
without the spending and killing of animals. Is it also true that if we
don't do the specific offerings they will desert us and stop protecting us
from evil.

We will tell you that sacrifice is absolutely not necessary. It is not with the blood of another that one species is given the ability to communicate with those who have passed on. It is with the intention and the allowing that such communication occurs. Those who are bound to such ritual are those who know nothing else. This has been taught and passed down through generations. There is fear involved. The fear that if not done in a certain way, the communication will not occur. We would like you to know that having the veil become thin has absolutely nothing to with sacrifice. The only death that needs to happen is the death of the individuals you would like to communicate with. Your loved ones on the other side will love, support and aid you if you simply ask them..
